The French Ministry of Finance has announced a series of strategic economic updates involving infrastructure divestments, technological investments, and adjustments to national savings products.

The state has finalised the sale of the Autoroutes et tunnel du Mont-Blanc (ATMB) and the Société française du tunnel routier du Fréjus (SFTRF) to the Caisse des Dépôts. This transition marks the completion of the transfer of these key transport assets.

In the technology sector, France is positioning itself to host an artificial intelligence gigafactory following a European call for projects focused on AI computing capacities. Simultaneously, the France 2030 initiative has introduced a call for projects to select French industry players for advanced semiconductor technologies through the future PIIEC programme.

Financial adjustments were also detailed for regulated savings accounts. From 1 August 2026, the interest rate for the Livret A will increase to 1.7%, while the Livret d’Épargne Populaire (LEP) will maintain its rate of 2.5%.

Additionally, the Ministry noted the appointment of Pascal Faure as the deputy director-general of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), describing the move as a recognition of French excellence in the field of intellectual property.
