Interactive Development Company, an award-winning architecture design and development firm, has created a strategy for growth after setting up its first office in Los Angeles in the mid 1980s. The expansion into the Middle East and Europe in 2021 is part of Interactive Development Company’s plan to grow their global reach and provide more opportunities to develop new talent around the world.

In recent years, Europe and the Middle East in particular have witnessed a remarkable evolution in its architecture. What was once a homogenous landscape of stucco and concrete has now been replaced by an eclectic mix of contemporary and historic styles. Countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have been building tall buildings to represent a new era of growth in their economies.

Saudi Arabia for example has been investing in architecture heavily for the last decade and it’s finally paying off. The country is now leading the world in an architecture revolution with its futuristic projects. One of the country’s most iconic building is King Khalid International Airport, which was constructed in 1982 and designed by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo.

Recently, IDC took part in a project that won a Guinness World Record for creating the largest “Mirror Tent” in the desert of Saudi Arabia with its shining mirror surface reflecting the arid landscape. IDC provided design expertise as part of a consortium of companies that facilitated the structure’s completion. The area is now marked as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been a popular tourist destination.

Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, is another example of where architecture is modernising. As one of the oldest cities in the world, it has been a landmark for trade and business. However it has not always had the most progressive or modern look, but recently that has changed. Beirut is looking to refine its old look with new buildings and architecture that will bring more modernity to the city.

Interactive Development company has been one of the key players in the region having recently expanded its local expertise in Riyadh and Beirut this year, with more projects in the works for the coming year.

Among its other notable projects include design works for Hael Canyon Mall, MBCC Dammam, Riyad Bank and the Al Ajlan Headquarters.
